GreenBeans in the making

EARLY DAYS OF GREENBEANS:
Our first baby became The Bean when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and the pictures in the pregnancy books of an 8wk fetus looked just like a bean. The nickname lasted the rest of the pregnancy, and beyond!

We put him in cloth nappies when he was about 8 weeks old, and never looked back. We started off for environmental reasons, but as you know, modern cloth nappies are so funky and fun that the environmental benefits rapidly became a happy bonus, and the true addiction to cloth flourished. And so The Bean became a “Green” Bean.

When I got to the inevitable stage where you want to try your hand at making a nappy yourself I was surprised that I couldn’t find any of the cool nappy making fabric or accessories anywhere in NZ. I couldn’t believe no one had started bringing in supplies for NZ WAHMs, and those who like me, just wanted to have a play.

I decided to do something about it, and so in late 2004, GBNZ was born! We’ve added another Green Bean to our family since then, and the business has certainly grown too, from running out of a spare bedroom and cutting on our dining room table! However as both our family business and our family itself grow and change, our goal remains the same – that whatever the scale of your need, to make one nappy or thousands, our family owned and operated business will be here to assist you in doing your bit for all our childrens’ health, comfort, and planet.

GREENBEANS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD:
We were shipping ever increasing numbers of orders from NZ to Australia for several years, but struggled keeping up with inventory levels in New Zealand let alone expanding. We made changes to our website in NZ to make it easier for International customers, and Australian orders grew even further.

In early 2009, we finally made the big decision to open a distribution warehouse situated in Brisbane, which has been up and running from 1 August 2009.

Greenbeans Australia PTY LTD is an Australian company, paying all the tax required within Australia and all profits will be retained within the company within Australia for the expansion of the company. It operates separately from Greenbeans NZ LTD with different staff, but at the same time gaining the economies of scale, experience in sourcing, consistency and high quality of product that Greenbeans NZ has come to be known for.
